Students enter a space where tradition meets technology and curiosity comes alive.
We believe that every young person deserves access to excellent library services, guided by qualified staff who empower them with the digital and information literacy skills essential for success in the 21st century (ASLA, 2022).
Located on the top floor of the Shanahan Learning Centre, the St Edward’s College Library is more than a collection of books — it’s a hub for innovation, connection, and lifelong learning.
Opened in 2015, our Library was envisioned as a learning commons — a place where students are not just consumers of information but creators of knowledge. The design reflects this philosophy: flexible, open, and dynamic.
Students can shape their environment with mobile furniture and technology that adapts to their needs — whether it’s quiet reflection, group collaboration, creative production, or presentation. The result is a space that feels alive, where imagination and intellect meet.
The Library offers a vast range of both physical and digital resources — from books and journals to e-books, audiobooks, online databases, newspapers, and multimedia materials.
With iPads, cameras, a green screen, and wireless printing available anywhere on campus, students can research, design, and produce with ease. Our LibGuides platform extends these resources beyond the school walls, giving students 24/7 access to curated materials that support assignments and inspire exploration.
Recent upgrades have further enriched the space, adding a Team Teaching Area that accommodates two classes and a Quiet Reading Zone with soft, flexible furniture. The environment supports a wide range of activities — from brainstorming sessions to peaceful reading, from film projects to design showcases.
Our Library staff do more than manage resources — they nurture readers, thinkers, and creators. The teacher librarian collaborates with classroom teachers to integrate media, information, and literacy skills directly into the curriculum, ensuring learning remains relevant and engaging.
Through reading promotion, research skills programs, and one-on-one support, the team helps every student grow in confidence and curiosity.
The Library welcomes students Monday to Friday from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, with homework help available each morning before school. It stands as a warm, vibrant space — a place where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and learning never truly ends.
