Trade Training Centre

Real World
Hands on Training

Offering career pathway training in Construction (Carpentry), Hospitality (Cookery) and Metals and Engineering (Metal Trade and Fabrication).

The aim of the Centre is to offer Year 10, 11 and 12 students from both schools the opportunity to combine their HSC studies with paid employment, while completing a school based apprenticeship or traineeship.

The Trade Training Centre is an initiative between St Edward’s College and St Joseph’s College. Established through the Commonwealth Government’s Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, the Centre provides senior students with an opportunity to have a broader range of vocational options while still at school.

The Construction and Engineering Fabrication Complex was constructed in 2010 using Federal Government funding and includes industry standard workshops and air-conditioned lecture rooms.

Pathways to
Paid Employment

The aim of the Centre is to offer Year 10, 11 and 12 students from both schools the opportunity to combine their HSC studies with paid employment, while completing a school based apprenticeship or traineeship.

The Trade Training Centre will offer career pathway training in Construction (Carpentry), Hospitality (Cookery) and Metals and Engineering (Metal Trade and Fabrication). Youth Connections will provide the industry link and will support and mentor the students through their industry specific training as they complete their apprenticeship or traineeship.

A suitable pathway of study will be negotiated and the students will complete a typical week consisting of four days at school and one day with their employer. Students will also complete a block of paid work placement at the end of each term.
